Sericulture Development Department J&K celebrates 78th Independence Day

Srinagar, Aug 15: The Sericulture Dev. Department J&K, celebrated the 78th Independence Day of India with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervor at its headquarters in Tulsi Bagh, Srinagar. The event was marked by the unfurling of the National Flag by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), Director Sericulture J&K, who led the celebrations with pride and reverence.
The occasion was graced by the presence of a large gathering of officers, staff members, and other dignitaries. The ceremony began with unfurling of the National Flag by Ajaz Ahmad Bhat (IAS), followed by the resounding rendition of the National Anthem, which filled the air with a sense of unity and pride. Adding to the solemnity of the event, the brave members of F Coy, 40th Battalion, Sashastra Seema Bal, Patna (Bihar), performed a ceremonial salute, further amplifying the spirit of patriotism.
In his address, Bhat underscored the importance of Independence Day and reminded the sacrifices of the countless freedom fighters and the enduring commitment to the welfare of every section of society which laid the strong foundation of this great nation. He reiterated the department’s dedication to working tirelessly for the betterment of the silkworm rearers, farmers, youth and women folk in J&K.
The Directorate of Sericulture’s premises were adorned with national flags, vibrant floral arrangements and the building located in the Premises of Sericulture Dev. Department at Tulsibagh Srinagar were illuminated with tricolor lights.
This special occasion was not only celebrated in the Directorate but also across various Divisional and District Offices of the Sericulture Department throughout Jammu & Kashmir. Speaking on the occasion, Bhat called upon the officers and employees of the department to intensify their efforts and work on a mission mode to spread awareness among silkworm rearers, farmers, and youth about the various schemes and facilities provided by the department. He emphasized the need for ensuring that the benefits of these schemes, including those under the Holistic Agriculture Development Program (HADP), reach every Silkworm Rearer, Farmer, Youth and women folk at the grassroots level as the welfare of these sections of society is the welfare of nation as a whole.
Bhat further expressed his gratitude to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, the Worthy Chief Secretary, and the Worthy Principal Secretary of the Agriculture Production Department, J&K, for their unwavering support and their commitment to ensuring effective implementation of all the schemes at ground level. In his concluding remarks, Bhat congratulated the staff members for their active participation in the Independence Day celebrations and commended their dedication to the department’s mission. As a token of appreciation, he felicitated the staff with mementos and certificates, recognizing their relentless commitment to their work and lifetime achievements during their service in the department
