After an extended dry spell, Kashmir’s higher reaches received the season’s first snowfall, bringing a touch of winter to the valley on Monday.
During the fresh snowfall of around 2-3 inches blanketed the upper reaches of Gulmarg, including Phase 2 of the famed ski resort. The higher reaches of the Pir Panjal Range and the Affarwat hills also saw a light dusting of snow, creating a picturesque winter scene.In Kupwara district, Sadan Top received nearly 4 inches of fresh snow, and snowfall continued throughout the afternoon.
This early snowfall has brought hope to locals and the tourism sector, marking the start of the winter season.
