Srinagar, Oct 10: The Education Zone Mawer in North Kashmir’s Handwara took a significant step towards improving the area’s education system with a Tuesday comprehensive awareness program held at Middle School Qalamabad in Handwara.
The event focused on School Management and Development Committees (SMDC) and School Management Committees (SMC), highlighting their pivotal roles in the education sector.
Education authorities, along with members of the Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), were invited to the day-long event.
CEO Kupwara, Abdul Hamid Fani, and other department officials conducted an informative session, shedding light on the details of these educational programs. CEO Fani underscored the immense significance of such initiatives in enhancing school management and overall development.
During the event, Block Development Chairman Mawer, Tahir Aftab, expressed their commitment to upgrading the infrastructure of local schools. He assured that the PRIs in the area would spare no effort in ensuring the education of underprivileged students. Aftab also drew attention to staff shortages in some remote schools within the education zone Mawer. He urged officials to fill vacant positions promptly to prevent any disruption in the education of these students.
The occasion was also marked by cultural programs organized by several schools in the Mawer education zone. These schools received awards from CEO Kupwara as a token of appreciation for their dedication to education.
CEO Kupwara expressed satisfaction with the response from PRIs and schools, noting that around 80 per cent of PRIs participated in the event. He reiterated that similar events are being organized across the district to promote the importance of education.
Speaking with the media, CEO Fani highlighted the educational potential in the area and their continuous efforts to ensure quality education in government-run schools. He affirmed their commitment to nurturing the fertile education sector in the zone.
Among the dignitaries who attended the event were BDC Mawer Tahir Ahmad Mir, Deputy Chief Officer Kupwara, Principal HSS Qaalmabad, Zonal Education Officer Mawer, J&K Teachers Forum Vice President, and Head Master BMS Qaalmabad.
