Srinagar, Oct 27: Samooh Theatre in Collaboration with JKAACL on Sunday held a Kashmir Theatre Seminar -2024 on the topic Kashmir Theatre – present scenario, challenges and prospects here at seminar hall, Cultural Academy complex, Srinagar. Suresh Gupta, (IFS) Principal Secretary Department of Culture graced as the Chief Guest.
Gupta in his address congratulated Dr. Sudhir Mahajan the founder of Samooh for organizing a one-day theatre Seminar here in Kashmir and extended his best wishes for its success. He also extended compliments to all the Theatre felicitated Theatre practitioners of Kashmir for their future endeavor in terms of achieving new heights in theatre art by exploring new experiments and innovations to make theatre more and more vibrant and popular among the masses.
Gupta while addressing said, the experts of the field would collectively share their experiences and knowledge and their expertise suggestions would definitely be taken into consideration for the betterment and development of theatre art in Jammu and Kashmir.
Ms Harvinder Kour (JKAS) Secretary Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art,Culture and languages also gracred as guest of honor to this occasion .
Mir Sarwar,Bollybood actor was the special guest ,who was also felicitated on this occasion
Mushtaquee Ali Ahmed Khan prominent Theatre and television actor/ director in his keynote address
gave the complete historical and contemporary view of theatre being practicing in kashmir and the challenges of doing theatre in the present time with reference to the various problems especially to find good scripts in kashmiri language, rehearsal spaces and not paying the proper attention by the departments who are the helm of affairs regarding the promotion of theatre and Script writings .
Ameen Bhat, Rishi Rasheed presented their papers while Ayash Arif also spoke and shared his experiences with regards to the overall present theater scenario of Kashmir.
The noted Theatre directors of Kashmir including Ameen Bhat, Ayash Arif, Mushtaq Ali Ahmed Khan, Arshad Mushtaq,Manzoor Mir, Rishi Rasheed were also felicitated in view of their long contribution to the field of Theatre in Kashmir and the national level as well
Earlier, Dr Sudhir Mahajan, founder Samooh Theatre, in his welcome address gave the complete detail and objective of the seminar and also disclosed the future activities of the Samooh Theatre to be undertaken in the coming future.
