Srinagar, May 20: People’s Conference chairman Sajad Gani Lone on Monday pledged to abolish the practice of filing FIRs and mandatory police verifications if elected to power.
Speaking after casting his vote, Lone said that eliminating these measures was a primary goal of his party, aiming to alleviate the burden on the youth. “If voted to power, I promise to erase the FIR and police verification culture that is affecting our youth,” he said, stressing the detrimental impact these practices have on young people.
Addressing the media regarding the significant voter turnout in Kupwara and Baramulla, Sajad said that high participation has been a tradition in these areas. “We have 18 constituencies in the area and it is always good to see people voting in huge numbers,” he remarked.
Lone’s statements come at a time as the People’s Conference seeks to gain momentum in the north. The party’s focus on reforming law enforcement practices is expected to resonate with the youth, who often find themselves entangled in bureaucratic procedures.
