The ongoing Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra is making significant strides across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, dedicated to saturating government schemes and ensuring genuine beneficiaries are reached. Aligned with the vision to make India a developed nation by 2047, a substantial progress has been made particularly in the agricultural sector over the past four years in UT of J&K. Under the Prime Minister Kisan (PM Kisan) scheme, farmers in Jammu and Kashmir receive an unprecedented Rs 6,000 per year in direct income support. This initiative has reshaped the agricultural landscape, benefiting over 11.98 lakh farmers with a total disbursement exceeding Rs 2,719 crores since its introduction. The robust financial assistance underscores the government’s commitment to uplifting the farming community. The region now boasts approximately 2,924 Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samriddhi Kendras, further facilitating and enhancing agricultural activities. Farmers like Nawaz Ahmed from Chadoora, Budgam, attest to the scheme’s positive impact, emphasizing timely access to pesticides and fertilizers, significantly boosting productivity and alleviating financial challenges. Running parallel to the PM Kisan initiative, the Kisan Credit Card (KCC) Scheme has played a pivotal role in fostering financial empowerment among farmers in Jammu and Kashmir. Ashok Kumar from Udhampur expresses deep gratitude for the KCC Scheme, acknowledging its pivotal role in managing finances effectively for sowing. The scheme empowers farmers to judiciously utilize funds, with repayments scheduled after the harvest, providing a sustainable financial model for agricultural activities. Similar sentiments are echoed by Abdul Rashid Bhat, highlighting the instrumental role of the Kisan Credit Card in securing a low-interest loan. This financial support has enabled him to establish and expand his vegetable cultivation business, showcasing the tangible impact of pro-poor welfare schemes implemented by the PM Modi government. The success stories continue with Abdul Hamid Ganai from Kulgam, exemplifying the positive impact of the PM Kisan scheme. Timely financial support in installments has empowered farmers like him to enhance their agricultural income, contributing to the overall prosperity of the region. In conclusion, the combined efforts of the PM Kisan and KCC schemes have ushered in a new era of agricultural empowerment in Jammu and Kashmir. These initiatives not only provide financial support but also instill a sense of confidence and resilience within the farming community. As the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra progresses, the main aim is to provide the benefits of schemes to left-out beneficiaries, and these stories from Jammu and Kashmir stand as a testament to the transformative power of well-designed government schemes in building a prosperous and developed India.
