SMC marks 76th Republic Day with vibrant flag hoisting
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation Sunday marked the 76th Republic Day with a vibrant flag unfurling ceremony at its central office in Karan Nagar Srinagar. The event was filled with patriotism and enthusiasm, highlighted by the unfurling of the National Flag by Dr. Owais Ahmed, Commissioner SMC in the presence of distinguished guests, officials, community leaders, senior citizens, and youth.
The ceremony began with the rendition of the National Anthem, which resonated throughout the venue, fostering a spirit of pride and unity among all attendees. In his address, the Commissioner extended warm greetings, reflecting on the rich legacy of India’s democratic values and emphasizing the importance of maintaining unity in diversity. He reaffirmed the SMC’s commitment to providing citizen-centric services for the residents of Srinagar. The event also featured an array of cultural performances and patriotic recitals, adding to the celebratory atmosphere and showcasing India’s rich cultural diversity.
DDC chairperson highlights significance of R-day in Gbl
In Ganderbal district of Central Kashmir, the main event was held at Qamaria Ground, where the District Development Council (DDC) Chairperson, Nuzhat Ishfaq, unfurled the National Flag amidst a gathering of officials, dignitaries, and citizens. Nuzhat Ishfaq inspected the contingents and took the ceremonial salute during an impressive March past by security forces, school children, and other participating groups. Speaking on the occasion, the DDC Chairperson highlighted the significance of the day and commended the district administration and residents for their contributions to progress and unity. Cultural programs showcasing the rich heritage and traditions of the region added colour to the celebrations. In Kangan, the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) presided over the Republic Day function. The SDM unfurled the National Flag and received the salute during a well-coordinated March past by various contingents. The event witnessed active participation from locals, including students and public representatives, reflecting the spirit of patriotism.
Both events concluded with the distribution of awards and certificates of appreciation to individuals and institutions for their exemplary contributions in various fields.
CUS celebrates R-day, VC unfurls tri-colour
Cluster University Srinagar celebrated the 76th Republic Day with the main function held at its administrative block where Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mohammad Mobin unfurled the national flag. The Vice Chancellor accepted the Guard of Honour presented by NCC cadets and students with the national anthem being played in the backdrop. Those who attended the ceremony included Dean Academic Affairs, Registrar, Controller of Examinations, Principals of constituent and affiliated colleges, Deans of various faculties, Sports Secretary, Coordinators of IG/PG programmes and Conveners of various committees besides the administrative staff of the university.
In his address, Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mobin referred to the significance of the day and reiterated the commitment of Cluster University to uphold the core values enshrined in the Constitution. He also stressed on the need to inculcate these values in the younger generation so that they become conscious of their duties towards the nation. Pertinently, the constituent colleges of the university viz., Govt. College for Women; Amar Singh College; S.P. College; Abdul Ahad Azad Memorial Degree College and Institute of Advanced Studies in Education- also celebrated Republic Day with the official ceremonies led by respective principals.
GGM Science College Jammu displays patriotism, unity
Government Gandhi Memorial (GGM) Science College, Jammu, celebrated the 76th Republic Day with a vibrant program that showcased the spirit of patriotism and unity. The event brought together faculty members, students and NCC Cadets to honour the nation’s democratic heritage and reaffirm their commitment to its ideals.
The program commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by the Principal of the College, Prof. (Dr.) Romesh Kumar Gupta, accompanied by the singing of the national anthem. The sight of the tricolour fluttering against the sky was a moment of pride and unity for all present.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Romesh Kumar Gupta emphasized the significance of Republic Day as a cornerstone of India’s democratic values. SKUAST-K displays enthusiasm, commitment on R-day.
Sher-e-Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology of Kashmir (SKUAST- K) Sunday celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great fervour at its main campus. The ceremony was led by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai, who unfurled the national flag.
The event saw the participation of a wide range of university officials, including Directors, Deans, Registrar, Heads of Divisions, Professors, and other staff members. In his address, Prof. Nazir Ahmad Ganai paid tribute to the visionaries and leaders who played a pivotal role in drafting India’s Constitution and shaping the nation’s democratic ideals. He emphasized the importance of preserving the values of justice, equality, and freedom that the Constitution guarantees to all citizens.
Further, the Vice Chancellor outlined the university and its future goals, emphasizing its commitment to making Jammu & Kashmir a model bio-economy state. Prof. Ganai reiterated the university& its role in fostering innovation and research to contribute to sustainable development in the region. Director Agriculture Jammu hoists national flag, extends greetings
The Agriculture Department, Jammu, celebrated the 76th Republic Day with great pride and enthusiasm at the Directorate of Agriculture, Krishi Bhawan, Jammu.
The event was graced by the presence of Director Agriculture Jammu, S. Arvinder Singh Reen, who hoisted the national flag to mark the occasion. The program was attended by Shri Satish Sharma, Joint Director Agriculture (Extension/SLUB), along with Deputy Directors, Sectoral heads, and staff from the Directorate of Agriculture Jammu.
On this momentous day, Director A.S Reen extended his warmest greetings to all the farmers, officers, and staff of the Agriculture Department. In his address, Director Agriculture reaffirmed the commitment of the Agriculture Department to work towards a self-reliant and prosperous India. He stressed the importance of sustainable agricultural practices, technological advancements, and collaboration in achieving these goals. “Through these efforts, we can ensure the well-being of our farming community and contribute to the growth of our nation,” he said.
Director A.S Reen listed several achievements of the department, including the focus on doubling farmers and income through various initiatives such as FPOs Formation, PMFME, Organic Farming, Soil Health Cards, Kisan Credit Cards, PM Fasal Bima Yojna, Farm Mechanization, and market-led diversified farming. He also noted the benefits of the Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), which has been instrumental in increasing farmers and income, enhancing agricultural productivity and generating employment for youth in the sector.
As part of the celebrations, a Nukkad Natak on HADP schemes was presented, organized by the Cultural Unit of the Department of Information and Public Relations Jammu under the directions of Joint Director Information, Atul Gupta, and the supervision of Cultural Officer Mukesh Sharma.
Role of NIT Sgr pivotal in shaping Vikshit Bharat: Director Naaz
The 76th Republic Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar on Sunday. The event was presided over by incharge-Director Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir, who unfurled the tri-colour on the campus.
The event was attended by Deans, Heads of Departments (HODs), HOC’s, Institute’s Registrar, Prof. Atikur Rahman, SHO Nigeen Ather Parvaiz Malik, faculty members, administrative officers, and security wing staff.
A grand parade by the institute’s security wing followed the flag hoisting ceremony. Director NIT Prof. Roohie Naaz Mir took the salute from the Parade Commander and inspected the parade contingents.
Addressing the gathering, Prof. Roohie Naaz acknowledged the vital role of education and institutions like NIT Srinagar in shaping a Viksit Bharat – a developed India.
“At NIT Srinagar, we have always upheld the ideals of excellence, innovation, and service to the nation. The engineers of tomorrow, trained within these walls, are not just problem-solvers but nation-builders,” she added. Prof. Roohie Naaz said that New Education Policy (NEP) 2020 has given us a roadmap to reimagine and revitalize the education system. Multidisciplinary learning, research integration, and global competitiveness are now the cornerstones of our academic framework. “As an institution, NIT Srinagar is committed to fostering an environment where creativity thrives, innovation is nurtured, and students are equipped with the skills to lead in a rapidly changing world,” she added. Director NIT Srinagar further said that role of engineering institutions in achieving a Viksit Bharat extends beyond classrooms and laboratories. We must forge stronger collaborations with industries, promote entrepreneurship, and encourage startups that address local and global challenges. “NIT Srinagar is already taking steps in this direction by establishing innovation centers, promoting research in sustainable technologies, and engaging with the community through outreach programs,” Prof. Roohie Naaz said. She also thanked everyone for attending and participating in the ceremony and extended his special gratitude to the security personnel lead by Security Officer NIT Srinagar Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat, for their participation and efforts.
Jammu wing of High Court observes Republic Day
The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh Sunday celebrated the 76th Republic Day with main function held in the High Court Wing Jammu wherein Chief Justice, Tashi Rabstan, hoisted the National flag.
The event was attended by Justice Sanjeev Kumar, Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Vinod Chatterji Koul, Justice Sanjay Dhar, Justice Puneet Gupta, Justice Mohd. Akram Chowdhary, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Justice Wasim Sadiq Nargal and Justice Rajesh Sekhri. Besides, President High Court Bar Association, Jammu along with Executive Members of the Bar, Senior Advocates of Jammu, Assistant Solicitor General of India and other Government Advocates were also present on the occasion. The Registrar General, High Court of J&K and Ladakh, Principal Secretary to Chief Justice besides officers and officials of the registry of main wing, Jammu Wing and Srinagar Wing of the High Court also participated in the event. The contingent of Armed Forces played patriotic songs/tunes following unfurling of the National Flag. The Chief Justice distributed sweets among the members of the Armed Forces.
Principal GCOE takes salute of Republic Day parade
Srinagar, Jan 26: The Government College of Education (GCOE), M.A. Road, Srinagar, Sunday celebrated 76th Republic Day with a strong sense of patriotism and enthusiasm.
Nodal Principal of Kashmir Division Colleges and Principal of GCOE Professor (Dr.) Seema Naz unfurled the National Flag and took the salute. The event was attended by the college staff, including teaching and non-teaching, as well as students of the College. In her address, Dr. Naz extended warm wishes to all present on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day. She emphasized that it was on this day in 1950 that the Indian Constitution came into effect, laying the foundation for a democratic India. Speaking on the theme of the day, ‘Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas’ (Golden India: Heritage and Progress), Dr. Naz highlighted the nation’s rich cultural heritage and its remarkable strides in development. She urged the faculty to engage in cutting-edge research and explore the frontiers of new-age technology, aiming to find solutions to pressing societal issues. Dr. Naz also underscored the critical role that educational institutions play in the nation’s development and their responsibility to shape the future of India.
