Kargil, May 10: Ladakh is mourning the loss of Haji Mohammad Jan, a distinguished poet and cultural icon who passed away at the age of 99. Originally from Pari Baltistan, Haji Mohammad Jan made Kalsigate his home and became celebrated for his literary prowess and dedicated efforts in preserving the rich Balti cultural heritage.
During his lifetime, Haji Mohammad Jan authored eight volumes of poetry dedicated to Hazrat Imam Hussain and Ahlaebaet AS, showcasing his deep devotion to his faith. His profound verses resonated widely, earning him acclaim as a gifted wordsmith.
To honor his invaluable contributions, the Association of Baltis for Himalaya & Territories of Indus, in collaboration with the Balti Research and Study Centre Kargil led by President Bashir Ahmad Wafa, held a condolence meeting in Kargil, Ladakh. President Wafa lauded Haji Mohammad Jan’s unwavering commitment to his culture and language, highlighting his courage and resilience.
