Jammu, Nov 19: Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly (JKLA), Abdul Rahim Rather on Tuesday chaired a meeting to review the progress of works on the new Assembly complex here.
The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, Secretary of PWD (R&B) Bhupinder Kumar, Secretary of Law Achal Sethi, Secretary of the Legislative Assembly Manoj Kumar Pandit, DG Finance (Budget) Mohammad Sultan, Chief Engineer of R&B, and other senior officers.
During the meeting, the Speaker took a comprehensive review of the current status of the works and other related aspects of the new Legislative Assembly Complex building. He also reviewed the financial progress of the project.
Rather received a first-hand appraisal from various quarters regarding issues hindering the smooth execution of the project.
During the meeting, the Secretary of R&B assured the Speaker that he would respond to the observations of the Finance Department within two days, after which the Secretary of Law would take up the matter with the competent authority for approval of the revised DPR within a week’s time.
The Speaker directed the officers of the concerned executing agency to expedite the process of restarting the construction works so that the project can be completed within the stipulated timeframe. He emphasized the need to mobilize men and machinery for the timely completion of the project.
