Jammu and Kashmir will witness Assembly Elections from 18th September after a considerable period of time. All eyes are set on the moves that the political parties are making. It includes both, the national parties and the regional parties that will be nominating candidates for the various phases of elections. The political dynamics of Jammu and Kashmir has undergone change but there are the parties that are focusing on the status quo meant to restore the special status.Voters will surely decide as to which way they will swing in electing the candidates.Neutralisation of Article 370 and 35 A has enlarged the political space. It has encouraged the various political formations to jump the fray that would have shied away earlier to contest the polls.Politics is the art of possible and that has been witnessed by the people of Jammu and Kashmir in totality when the BJP-PDP formed the coalition government with late Mufti Mohammad Syed as the Chief Minister. At that time it was said that to bring the BJP and PDP together to form the government will be Herculean task.It indeed was the coming together of the political North and South pole in Jammu and Kashmir. On the one hand ,BJP was known for its stand. It was all out to revoke Article 370 and on the other hand PDP had a declared agenda of Self-Rule in Jammu and Kashmir. It took lot of negotiating skills to stitch the coalition government. This coalition government was based on the Agenda of Alliance that held the two parties together like a bar magnet, having different polarities but bound by political expediency on the ground. As PDP had emerged as the party having considerable numbers in Kashmir and BJP having the mandate from Jammu. In order to make the governance functional in Jammu and Kashmir this coalition became a reality. It was also seen as an experiment to keep Jammu and Kashmir regions together. It is a different story as to what happened to this coalition latter. But major credit for enabling this coalition goes to Ram Madhav who utilised his political skills to engineer BJP-PDP coalition in terms of Agenda of Alliance. He has been out of scene as far as the political drama of Jammu and Kashmir is concerned.Ram Madhav is fundamentally a Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) man who has is seen as representing the broader ideological moorings of the organisation in the BJP.He has been appointed as the in charge for the upcoming Assembly Elections in Jammu and Kashmir along with G Krishen Reddy. It must be noted that Ram Madhav’s appointment as Election in charge of Jammu and Kashmir for the BJP comes ahead of a three-day coordination committee meeting of the RSS with its 37 affiliates from 31st August to 2nd September in Kerala. It means that his appointment as BJP’s election in charge is meant to give some signal by BJP to the top brass of RSS.Before his exit from Jammu and Kashmir he had been actively involved in shaping the political dynamics of BJP.Presently,Ram Madhav is member of the governing council of India Foundation. He is known for his organisational skills.Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s much publicised presence at the Madison Square,New York,London and Sydney in 2014 is considered as his brain child to garner the overseas Indian support for the BJP.Ram Madhav’s coming back to Jammu and Kashmir has raised many speculations. He is known to create out of the box political permutations and combinations to place BJP in the driver’s seat in Jammu and Kashmir.Keeping in view the presence of various political parties in Jammu and Kashmir securing a mandate will be challenge for them. As this time various narratives are in the public domain.Has Ram Madhav been deputed to experiment with a new political formula in Jammu and Kashmir? So that BJP is able to play a role in the government formation or will it be a part of the government as it did in terms of the Agenda of Alliance when the BJP-PDP coalition was stitched together? Only time will tell. Ram Madhav’s emergence in Jammu and Kashmir has raised many speculations.
