Srinagar, Mar 01:In an effort to protect the delicate ecosystems of its protected areas and wetland reserves, authorities have once again invoked the Wildlife Protection Act. The Wetlands Division reaffirms its commitment to preserving biodiversity by declaring certain regions inaccessible to the general public.
A recent order issued by the Division emphasizes the prohibitions regarding entry into Protected Areas/Wetland Reserves. Through a public notice, it is reiterated that, under the powers conferred by the Wildlife Protection Act, the following areas under the jurisdiction of the Wetlands Division are declared out of bounds for the general public without valid permission: Hokersar WLR, Hygam WLR, Shallabugh WLR, Mirgund WLR, Chattlum WLR, Fashkoori WLR, Manibugh WLR, and Kranchoo WLR. This declaration is particularly relevant during the migratory season.
Anyone found trespassing into these Wetland Conservation Reserves without valid permission will face strict consequences under the relevant provisions of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
This notice serves as a reminder to all members of the general public to respect these protected areas and obtain valid permissions before entering these sensitive ecosystems. Failure to comply will result in legal action in accordance with wildlife protection laws.
