Srinagar, Apr 08: Minister for Jal Shakti, Javed Ahmed Rana, on Tuesday informed the Assembly that the proposal for a project worth Rs 928 lakh aimed at augmenting the Water Supply Scheme (WSS) at Dal Bund is currently under review.
The statement came in response to a question raised by Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president and MLA Tariq Hameed Karra, who sought details about the status of the project.
Responding to the question, Minister Rana said the proposal had been submitted by the Executive Engineer of the Mechanical Division Srinagar and involves procurement and installation of electromechanical equipment for the contingency plant at Dal Bund. However, the proposal was returned for clarifications on certain observations. “Once the observations are cleared and the Detailed Project Report (DPR) is approved, the source of funding will be explored,” he said.
The project aims to replace the worn-out rising main with a 700mm diameter MS pipeline and upgrade old machinery, including pumps and electrical gadgets, to improve water supply in the area.
Minister Rana added that the augmentation work is expected to be completed within one financial year after receiving the necessary approvals.
