Promotion of J&K’s cultural heritage in focus: LG Sinha

Chaired a meeting on evaluating performance of the Deptof Culture& also SW dept’s operations
Urges focus on aadhaar seeding & CSR expansion

 

Srinagar, May 08: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha chaired a high-level meeting focused on evaluating the performance of the Department of Culture. The discussion encompassed strategies for promoting and safeguarding the rich cultural and heritage assets of Jammu and Kashmir Union Territory.
Emphasising the importance of preserving the diverse architectural legacy, the Lt Governor suggested enhancements to the existing policy framework. He also inquired about public engagement with the department’s libraries, urging for broader outreach to younger demographics via digital platforms.
The meeting delved into additional topics such as the enhancement of museums and the digitization of archival materials. The Lt Governor stressed the importance of providing visitors with top-notch facilities at museums and libraries to enrich their intellectual and cultural experiences.
The attendees included Sh. Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department; Dr.Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor; Suresh Kumar Gupta, Principal Secretary of the Culture department; alongside Heads of Departments and other senior officials.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led a comprehensive review meeting today to assess the operations of the Social Welfare Department.
Present at the meeting were key officials including Sh. Santosh D Vaidya, Principal Secretary of the Finance Department; Dr.Mandeep Kumar Bhandari, Principal Secretary to the Lt Governor; and Ms.Sheetal Nanda, Commissioner Secretary of Social Welfare, alongside Administrative Secretaries, Heads of Departments, and senior officials.
The Lt Governor conducted a thorough evaluation of the implementation status of various social welfare schemes. He stressed the importance of achieving 100% Aadhaar seeding of beneficiaries across these schemes, urging officials to redouble their efforts in this regard.
In his scrutiny of the PoshanAbhiyaan’s performance, the Lt Governor instructed officials to conduct a ground-level study to gauge the scheme’s impact effectively.
Focusing on Anganwadi Centres, he directed officials to ensure their full functionality, equipped with all necessary facilities. Highlighting their pivotal role in child development, he underscored the need for these centers to serve as comprehensive hubs for health, nutrition, early learning, and childcare.
Additionally, the Lt Governor emphasized the imperative of making villages and cities free from malnutrition and anaemia. He emphasized the significance of Aadhaar seeding on the Poshan tracker and expanding the scope of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Recognizing PoshanMaah and PoshanPakhwada as integral components of PoshanAbhiyaan, the Lt Governor stressed the need for intensified Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) activities to ensure widespread beneficiary coverage.
Moreover, the meeting reviewed the performance of initiatives like NanheKadam and the support provided to women under Sankalp and One Stop Centre programs. Collective efforts were urged in combating the menace of drug abuse, underscoring the holistic approach required to address such societal challenges.
