Budgam, Oct 09: The district administration of Budgam has started the implementation process of the Rural Solid Waste Management (SBM) plan across the district.
An official from the Rural Development Department (RDD) Budgam told Rising Kashmir that the block development department in all the villages has already provided the dustbins so that the people can put their home waste in these dustbins.
“The panchayat bodies have to hire labour and vehicles for collection and disposal of waste in every panchayat. The government will also provide electric vehicles that will collect the waste from the villages and will dump it at designated dumping sites, “an official said
He said that the electric vehicles that will be used to pick up waste from the villages are pollution-free and fuel-free. The Sarpanch will collect the waste collection fee from the people and shopkeepers every month.
“There will also be a central dumping site for various villages where these collection vehicles will dump the waste on a daily basis, which they will collect from the villages,” he said.
“The block development department has also created segregation sheds in every panchayat where the biodegradable waste will be dumped into these sheds, which will turn into fertilizers, which can also be used for agricultural purposes in these villages,” he added
