Srinagar, Oct 20: Political leaders across Jammu and Kashmir expressed outrage against the tragic killing of migrant labourers in a terror attack at a labour camp in Gagangeer in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Sunday evening.
The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) condemned the violence in Gagangeer. “The attack on laborers is indeed tragic, and the loss of lives is deeply saddening. Condemning such violence is crucial in expressing solidarity with the victims,” the party said on X (formerly Twitter). It expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and prayed for a swift recovery for the injured.
Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) president Tariq Hameed Karra expressed grave concern over the terror attack. “Such attacks will vitiate the atmosphere.” He urged the government to take immediate action to protect innocent labourers from brutal violence.
People’s Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti while condemning the attack highlighted the senselessness of the violence. “Deepest condolences to their families,” she posted on X. Mufti urged stronger measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader Muhammad Yousuf Tarigami expressed dismay over the attack. “These despicable attacks appear to be deliberate attempts to disturb peace,” he said, adding that a non-local labourer was killed in Shopian just days earlier. The CPI(M) leader called for the culprits to be swiftly brought to justice and sent heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families.
People’s Conference (PC) chairman Sajad Lone described the incident as an “insane act of madness” and expressed his outrage on social media. Calling for accountability and swift action against the perpetrators, he extended his thoughts to the families affected by the tragedy.
Apni Party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari labelled the targeting of non-local labourers as shocking and reiterated the urgency for measures to ensure their safety. He said the attack occurred just two days after a migrant worker was killed in Shopian, which shows a troubling trend in violence against those who come to the region for work.
National Conference, leader and MLA Kangan, Mian Mehar Ali expressed his heartbreak over the killings. “My thoughts are with their families during this tragic time,” he said. Ali prayed for a speedy recovery for the injured.
Syed Jamat Ali Shah, a PDP leader from Ganderbal, condemned the attack as dastardly and cowardly.
