Police in Sopore have successfully recovered a consignment of illicit timber and seized a vehicle (tractor) within the jurisdiction of Police Station Sopore.
A Spokesperson said that acting on specific intelligence about the illegal extraction of willow timber logs from Forest Compartment No. 14, Janwara Nambal during the night of 13/14 January 2025. Acting swiftly, a police team from Police Post Warpora along with the Forest Department, established a checkpoint at Janwara and intercepted a vehicle (tractor) bearing registration No. JK05D-3984. During search, illicit willow timber cut from Forest Compartment No. 13, Janwara Nambal, was recovered from the said vehicle (tractor).
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 05/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Sopore and further investigation is underway.
