Police observe ‘Meri Maati Mera Desh’ campaign across valley

Srinagar, Aug 09: As a part of “Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav”, police observed “Meri Maati Mera Desh” – a nationwide campaign which commenced from Wednesday – at various police establishments across the valley. The department also led plantation drives and tiranga rallies as part of the campaign at various district establishments.
“The campaign aims to foster a deep sense of national pride and was conducted under the guidance of district and zonal heads in their respective jurisdictional areas,” a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here, adding, “The participation of police officers, officials, school contingents, and esteemed citizens, each taking a solemn oath to shape a brighter future for India was witnessed during the campaign.”
In Baramulla, various events were held with the main event held at District Police Lines Baramulla where DIG NKR Vivek Gupta-IPS administers pledge to officers/Jawans of DPL Baramulla and school contingents. SSP Baramulla Amod Ashok Nagapure-IPS, SP Hqrs Baramulla Ms Divya D-IPS, DySP DAR DPL Baramulla, DySP JIC Baramulla, In-charge PCR Baramulla and other officers of police and CAPF were also present. Likewise, all SDPOs, SHOs and In-charge police posts also administered pledges to the officers and officials at all sub-divisions, police stations and police posts.
In Shopian, under this campaign, plantation drives were held across the district with the main drive held at DPL Shopian where SSP Shopian Ms Tanushree-IPS planted local plants and other ornamental plants at DPL Shopian. ASP Shopian Naresh Singh, DySP Hqrs Shopian, DySP DAR DPL Shopian, DySP PC Keller and other officers of police and CAPF were present. All SDPOs, SHOs and IC PPs also held the plantation drives in their respective jurisdictions at all sub-divisions, police stations and police posts.
In Bandipora, Tiranga rallies and pledge ceremonies were organised at all police establishments of the district in collaboration with various educational institutions and civil societies. SSP Bandipora Lakshay Sharma-IPS led the Tiranga rally from District Police Lines Bandipora to DPO Bandipora. ASP Bandipora Sandeep Bhat-JKPS, DySP Hqrs, DySP DAR Bandipora and other officers and jawans of district police Bandipora were part of the rally. Later, SSP Bandipora administered a pledge to all participants at DPO Bandipora.
In Pulwama, “veers” of the nation who made the supreme sacrifices for the country were venerated, revered and commemorated for their enormous contribution to the freedom, cohesion, and integrity of the nation. The event included the inauguration of Silaphalakam, a youth rally and felicitation of families of martyrs. A remarkable participation of people coupled with enthusiasm was witnessed at all the locations. SSP Pulwama, ASP Pulwama, DySP Hqrs Pulwama, DySP DAR Pulwama and other officers were present.
In Budgam, a pledge for the country’s progress was held in all the police establishments of the district. SSP Budgam administered the pledge to police officers & officers of district Budgam at DPO Budgam. One of the highlights of the campaign’s launch was the participation of police officers and personnel in uploading their selfies on the official government portal. The striking banners and posters were placed strategically at prominent locations throughout the district.
In Ganderbal, Handwara, Awantipora and Sopore, different events were organized including installing banners and posters at prominent locations. Tiranga rallies were also held.
