Srinagar, Sept 11: In accordance with the orders issued by the Special Court designated under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), District & Sessions Judge Baramulla, via Order No. 122/ASJ/BLA/UAPA dated 02/09/2025, police executed attachment proceedings against immovable properties belonging to two accused individuals.
The case, FIR No. 03/2008 of Police Station Pattan, involves charges under Sections 2/3 EIMCO Act, Section 121 RPC, and Section 19 of the UAP, , a police spokesperson said in a statement issued here.
“The attachment was carried out under Section 88 of the CrPC with the active assistance of the Revenue Department. All legal formalities, including proclamation and public notification, were duly completed, and the properties were properly identified and demarcated,” the spokesperson said.
According to the statement, the properties belong to Mohd Maqbool Sheikh, son of Late Ali Mohd Sheikh, resident of Tantraypora Palhallan (currently in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir), comprising 3 Kanals 15 Marlas of land under Survey No. 1947/1767, and Mohd Rafiq Tantray, son of Ab Hamid Tantray, also of Tantraypora Palhallan (currently in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir), comprising 4 Kanals 17 Marlas of land under Survey Nos. 1763/1584/2395.
“This action underscores the police’s firm resolve to act decisively against individuals involved in unlawful and anti-national activities. The process of identifying and attaching properties of such offenders will continue as per due legal procedures,” the spokesperson said, adding that police remain committed to maintaining peace, security, and the rule of law in the region.
Meanwhile, police on Thursday attached immovable property belonging to a notorious drug peddler in the Humhama area of Budgam district.
The property, a double-storey residential house owned by Sahil Yousuf Bhat, son of Mohd Yousuf Bhat and resident of Humhama, has an estimated market value of approximately Rs 50 lakh, a police spokesperson said in a separate statement issued here.
He said the attachment was carried out under Section 68-F of the NDPS Act, in connection with Case FIR No. 110/2021 registered under Sections 8/21 and 29 of the NDPS Act at Police Station Budgam.
“This action signifies a decisive step in the Jammu & Kashmir Police’s ongoing efforts to dismantle the financial backbone of narcotics networks,” the spokesperson said. “The public is once again urged to share any information related to drug peddling or trafficking and to cooperate with law enforcement agencies in the collective fight for a drug-free society.”
