Jammu, Jan 27: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan’ in Hindi, Dogri, and Urdu at Abhinav Theatre today. The three-day literary event is being organized by the J&K Academy of Art, Culture, and Languages as part of the 76th Republic Day celebrations.
The Lieutenant Governor extended his felicitations to the acclaimed and emerging poets from J&K and other parts of the country participating in the poetry sessions. He stated that the Rashtriya Kavi Sammelan reflects the richness and diversity of India’s literary heritage. “These sessions provide an opportunity to explore the wisdom and traditions of our civilization, which have thrived for millennia,” he added.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor paid homage to the great litterateurs of Dogri, Hindi, and Urdu languages, emphasizing the pivotal role poets and writers play in society. “Every generation of poets and writers has contributed immensely to our cultural identity, ensuring that our traditions are passed on to future generations,” he said.
He urged the poets and literary figures to become voices of patriotism and unity, contributing to building a vibrant, progressive, and united society. “Poetry has a social responsibility. It can raise awareness about socio-economic issues, inspire patriotism, and promote values of harmony and brotherhood,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor also highlighted the historic transformation taking place in Jammu and Kashmir and called for a collective commitment to inclusive development.
During today’s Hindi poetry session, poets including Harish, Upender Pandey, Rajesh Agarwal, Shambhu Shikhar, Deepak Saini, Chetan Charchit, Shailender Madhur, Rajesh Jain, Dharamveer Nishchal, Santosh Singh, Padmini Singh, and others captivated the audience with their engaging recitations.
