Sadura (Anantnag), Nov 29: A significant number of men, mostly in their 30s, participated in a blood donation camp held on Friday morning in Sadura village of Anantnag district.
The camp was organized by Rehmat-lil-Aalameen Markazi Baitul Maal, Sadura in collaboration with Kashmir Blood Donors and the Blood Center, GMC Anantnag.
Mohd Sikandar Malik, Chairman of the organizing committee, expressed gratitude to the donors, calling it a noble effort. He said that the camp would ensure a steady supply of blood for those in urgent need at hospitals, reducing their difficulties.
“The entire village supported this cause, and the event was a success with a significant collection of blood pints,” he said.
Mohammad Abass, Chairman of Kashmir Blood Donors, said that 68 pints of blood were collected during the day-long camp, which started at 11 a.m.
Reflecting on the origins of his organization, Abass said how a personal experience motivated him to take action. “A patient in my village needed blood, but no one responded to our social media appeal. I ended up donating myself, which inspired me to create a network and organize blood donation camps to help others in emergencies,” he said.
He also acknowledged the support of cricketer Parvez Rasool, whose promotion of their cause on social media helped expand the group.
Abass added that the organization has facilitated thousands of blood donations this year and continues to receive requests from across Kashmir.
