PDP leader Iltija Mufti has strongly criticized the Jammu and Kashmir administration over the suspension of her two Personal Security Officers (PSOs), questioning the government’s priorities.

She alleged that while her security personnel faced action, the Station House Officer (SHO) in Kathua, who she accused of running an extortion racket and creating fear, remains in service.

“Two of my PSOs who have the responsibility for my security have been suspended but they (State Govt) are not suspending the SHO in Kathua who is running an extortion racket and has created an atmosphere of fear…It is not the priority of the State or Central Govt to think about the safety of J&K…,” she said.

She also targeted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, stating he should have visited Kathua instead of being in Delhi.

“CM Omar Abdullah should have reached Kathua yesterday. We went there but he was having lunch in Delhi. Farooq Abdullah should tell us what are the priorities of his son CM Omar Abdullah…I want to raise the issue of the SHO in Kathua who is extorting money from young boys and torturing them…,” she said.

PDP president and former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mehbooba Mufti on Monday said two personal security officers (PSOs) of her daughter Iltija Mufti have been placed under suspension after the young leader’s unscheduled visit to Kathua.

“Finally Iltija managed to reach Bilawer in Kathua to meet the bereaved family of Makhan Din, who was driven to suicide by police torture. It’s deeply saddening that she had to endure so many obstacles and travel like a fugitive just to offer comfort to the victim’s family. The ruling party has shirked responsibility conveniently attributing all issues to the Lieutenant Governor. However, as a responsible opposition PDP will always strive to reach out to the people to offer solace.”

On Saturday Iltija had claimed that she and her mother, party president, Mehbooba Mufti, have been placed under house arrest as the latter was going to visit Sopore in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, where a civilian truck driver was allegedly killed in army firing earlier this week. (ANI)
