Srinagar, Dec 28: Jammu and Kashmir People’s Democratic Party (PDP) on Saturday commended the people of Kashmir for their generosity in assisting stranded tourists during the ongoing snowfall, which has disrupted daily life across the region.
In a statement issued here, PDP General Secretary Mohammad Khurshid Alam appreciated the Kashmiri people’s enduring spirit of hospitality, stating how residents opened their homes and Masjids to provide shelter, food and warmth to those in need.
“It is heartening to witness that Kashmir’s long-standing tradition of hospitality is alive and thriving,” Alam said. “Despite the challenges posed by snowfall, including water and electricity shortages, the people of Kashmir have shown remarkable generosity, making the region proud once again.”
Alam pointed to numerous videos and pictures circulating on social media, showcasing local residents and Masjid committees stepping up to help stranded tourists. “These extraordinary gestures highlight that no matter the circumstances, Kashmir will never forget its rich heritage and tradition of helping strangers in their time of need,” he added.
The PDP leader urged the administration to expedite snow clearance on vital roads, particularly those leading to health centres and hospitals, and to ensure an uninterrupted power supply to alleviate the difficulties faced by the residents.
