Srinagar, Jan 27: Paras health Srinagar continues to set new standards in advanced cardiac care as it has successfully managed two complex cases that underscore the hospital’s expertise in interventional cardiology and multidisciplinary treatment.
The first case involved an octogenarian patient presenting with a dual-territory acute STEMI (massive heart attack). Diagnostic tests revealed a completely occluded and severely calcified proximal LAD, along with a subtotal LCX occlusion—blockages in two vital coronary arteries. The expert cardiology team, led by Dr Maqbool Sohail, Associate Director of Interventional Cardiology, performed a highly intricate Percutaneous Coronary Intervention (PCI) using cutting-edge techniques. Despite challenges, including an under-expanded stent in the LAD, the team employed intravascular lithotripsy (IVL) therapy to achieve optimal stent expansion. The procedure, conducted via the radial route, was a success, with the patient discharged in stable condition within 48 hours.
In the second case, Abdul Hamid Shah, a 69-year-old from Bandipora with chronic liver disease, portal hypertension, and bradycardia, underwent a Dual-Chamber Permanent Pacemaker Implantation. Despite the complexities posed by his advanced liver condition and high-grade oesophageal varices, a multidisciplinary team ensured a seamless recovery. Coronary angiography revealed non-obstructive coronary artery disease, while his oesophageal varices were expertly managed by Dr Wajeed Yousuf, Consultant Gastroenterologist.
Expressing gratitude, Shah remarked: “I was suffering from a heart condition, and the doctors treated me with exceptional care. Dr Maqbool Sohail and Dr Wajeed were both professional and compassionate, and the hospital staff were supportive throughout. I highly recommend Paras Health for its exemplary medical care.”
Dr Maqbool Sohail, Senior Consultant of Interventional Cardiology, highlighted the importance of timely intervention, stating: “Both cases were challenging and required precision-driven, multidisciplinary care. At Paras Health, our expertise and advanced technology allow us to effectively handle such complex scenarios. Prompt medical attention and the availability of 24/7 procedures like Primary PCI are critical in saving lives and improving outcomes for heart attack patients.”
These successful interventions reaffirm Paras Health Srinagar’s commitment to delivering 24/7 advanced cardiac care, including Primary PCI—the gold standard for treating heart attacks. With state-of-the-art facilities and a highly skilled team, the hospital is equipped to handle the most demanding cardiac emergencies with efficiency and precision.
The doctors at Paras Health Srinagar urge the community to remain vigilant about heart attack symptoms and seek immediate medical care at a facility equipped with round-the-clock Primary PCI capabilities. Timely intervention can be life-saving, and Paras Health Srinagar remains dedicated to providing world-class cardiac care to the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
