Srinagar, Apr 13: The Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS), under the auspices of MY Bharat, organised a “Jai Bhim Padyatra” on Sunday to commemorate the birth anniversary of Dr B R Ambedkar. The event, which drew participation from over 600 youth across different districts, commenced at Hokersar Wetland in Zainakote and concluded at Narbal Crossing.
The padyatra was flagged off and led by Dr Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Chairperson of the Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board, according to a statement issued here. In her presidential address, Dr Andrabi praised the efforts of MY Bharat in organising the event and called for spreading Dr Ambedkar’s teachings and messages among the younger generation.
“The contribution of Bhim Rao Ambedkar is immense in building a powerful, progressive, visionary and democratically strong nation,” Dr Andrabi said.
Accusing the Congress of neglecting Dr Ambedkar’s intellectual and political legacy, she said, “Prime Minister Modi is taking significant initiatives to strengthen constitutional values and empower youth in line with the vision of a developed Bharat by 2047.”
Dr Andrabi underscored the relevance of the Prime Minister’s motto of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ saying it aligns it with Dr Ambedkar’s doctrines.
The event also featured prominent youth leaders, including Bilal Ah Parray and Khalid Baqal, who contributed to the discussions on Ambedkar’s impact on society. District Youth Officer Khushal Gupta welcomed attendees, which included representatives from civil society, law enforcement, and various youth clubs.
The padyatra, according to the statement, culminated at Nagbal Crossing, demonstrating a collective commitment to honouring Dr Ambedkar’s legacy and promoting constitutional values within the community. The ongoing programmes at both the UT and district levels are being coordinated by Nisar Ahmed Butt, State Director of NYKS, J&K Ladakh.
