Srinagar, Mar 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Government announced on Wednesday that a total of 135,925 houses have been built over the past two years under the Pradhan Mantri Grameen Awaas Yojana (PMGAY) within the Union Territory.
In response to a query raised by MLA Arjun Gupta during the Assembly session, the Minister in charge of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj revealed that, in the Jammu division, 109,412 houses have been constructed under PMGAY in the last two years, while the Kashmir division has seen the completion of 26,513 houses.
The Minister further clarified that both the SECC-2011 and Awaasplus databases are now fully saturated. As a result, the remaining target of 140,021 houses must be completed in the current financial year, and no separate target will be set for 2024-25.
