Of this, a significant share of 2250 megawatts has been developed by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC).

The Jammu & Kashmir Government on Saturday informed the Legislative Assembly that the UT of J&K has estimated hydropower potential of 18000 megawatts, out of which 14867 megawatts have been identified.

In a written reply to question of MLA Eidgah, Minister in-charge, Power Development Department, Omar Abdullah informed the House that 11283 MWs of hydropower have been identified in Chenab Valley, 3084 MWs in Jhelum basin and 500 MWs in Ravi basin.
