Pulwama, Aug 30: Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) nominated candidate for the Rajpora Constituency in Pulwama district, Mudassir Hassan, believes that a single MLA from their party is sufficient to replicate the Delhi-style good governance model in Jammu and Kashmir.
Speaking with Rising Kashmir at his residence in Drabgam village of Pulwama, Mudassir Hassan said that the implementation of good governance is not dependent on AAP forming the government in Jammu and Kashmir.
“Our one MLA is sufficient to replicate the good governance model in his own constituency,” he said, adding that AAP is currently working on an election manifesto for Jammu and Kashmir, which will be made public soon.
Hassan, who also serves as AAP’s spokesperson for Jammu and Kashmir, highlighted that the party’s national agenda would be applicable to the Union Territory as well.
He said that the socio-economic development of Jammu and Kashmir is a primary focus for AAP.
“We aim to create an atmosphere in Jammu and Kashmir where youth can realise their true potential,” he said, adding that striving for a harmonious atmosphere is the highest quality that distinguishes a leader.
According to Hassan, socio-economic development is a natural outcome of a conducive atmosphere.
“When a leader provides a harmonious environment to their community, developmental projects such as roads, electricity, potable water, and others are addressed spontaneously.”
He also said that AAP would work on policies that would bring noticeable changes for local youth.
“We will fight corruption, nepotism with tooth and nail,” he said, adding that the party endorses only those candidates who are free from corruption, have no criminal background, are non-communal, and have strong character.
Outlining his vision for the Rajpora constituency, Mudassir Hassan promised to establish a skill university and two ITIs for vocational courses. He also discussed plans for women empowerment by setting up two bank branches and introducing a separate bus service exclusively for women in Rajpora.
He also talked about the development of four national-level play fields and two multi-activity indoor stadiums for local youth.
Hassan’s vision also includes a policy for supply chain management of horticultural produce, regulation of chemicals used in agriculture, a gradual shift to organic farming, and the promotion of Kiwi and Lavender cultivation.
Mudassir Hassan joined AAP in July 2022. Previously, he worked as a consultant with the NCPCR before resigning as NYC President for Jammu and Kashmir.
He has been actively involved in youth politics and has consistently advocated for youth policies in Jammu and Kashmir.
