Jammu, May 25: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha today reaffirmed the government’s firm commitment to completely eradicating terrorism from Jammu and Kashmir and issued a stern warning to Pakistan.
“Pakistan is on notice. If it resorts to any misadventure in future, our armed forces will make sure to destroy this terrorist state. I assure the people that there will be no discrimination between armed terrorists and their supporters and sympathisers. Their actions will be met with similar punishment,” he said while addressing the All J&K Jat Sabha in Jammu.
Recalling the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, where 26 civilians lost their lives, Sinha expressed the nation’s deep anger and grief. He highlighted that within 15 days, the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor, which eliminated over 100 terrorists and destroyed nine terror camps across the border. The operation remains ongoing until all terror networks in Jammu and Kashmir are eradicated.
Sinha warned Pakistan that any future terror attacks will be treated as acts of war, emphasizing India’s strong but measured response during the retaliatory strikes on May 6–7, where nine terrorist bases were neutralized without harming civilians or the Pakistani Army.
He lauded the coordinated anti-terror efforts of the Indian Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police, and Central Armed Police Forces, stating that terrorists and their supporters — including those in white-collar positions poisoning society from within — will be brought to justice.
Highlighting the critical role of the Jat community, especially those residing near India’s borders, the Lieutenant Governor praised their legacy of “valour, courage, and sacrifice,” acknowledging them as the country’s first line of defence.
“Your devotion to the motherland has deepened the spirit of nationalism in society,” he said, urging the community and all sections of society to unite against divisive forces threatening peace and social harmony. “In these challenging times, your responsibility to uphold national unity is more crucial than ever.”
Sinha also called for recognizing and defeating divisive elements, urging society to celebrate diversity while fostering unity. “Our brave Armed Forces have scripted a new saga of valor with ‘Operation Sindoor.’ It is now our sacred task to transform the vision of a United and Viksit Bharat into reality and pay a fitting tribute to our bravehearts who cherished the dream of a powerful nation,” he added.
Acknowledging the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, Sinha expressed gratitude for ushering in an era of equality in Jammu and Kashmir and empowering marginalized communities. He reiterated his commitment to the welfare and prosperity of the Jat community.
Emphasizing community safety, he highlighted the importance of building community bunkers in border villages, citing Baramulla’s cost-effective model as an example to replicate. He urged citizens to consider safe shelters within their homes during reconstruction, assuring that government buildings would adopt similar safety protocols.
On compensation, Sinha announced that families of those killed in recent attacks will receive Rs 10 lakh from the J&K administration and Rs 6 lakh from the Union Home Ministry, along with full rehabilitation support for the injured and displaced.
Reflecting on India’s progress, Sinha noted, “India is now the world’s fourth-largest economy and is on track to becoming the third. This growth reflects not just economic success but national resilience in the face of adversity.”
He recalled historical challenges, mentioning Pakistan’s attack on Jammu and Kashmir soon after independence and underlined that the nation has learned valuable lessons. “We have entered a new era where security, unity, and development go hand in hand.”
Paying tribute to the social reformer Sir Chhotu Ram, Sinha reminded the audience that the Jat community’s history is “one of valor, sacrifice, and unwavering patriotism.”
The event was attended by Vikram Randhawa, Member of Legislative Assembly from Bahu constituency; Sukhnandan Choudhary, former Minister; Manjit Singh, President of the All J&K Jat Sabha; Taranjit Singh Tony; along with other Sabha members, prominent citizens, and people from various walks of life.
