New Delhi, May 16: Union Home Minister Amit Shah today praised Operation Sindoor, calling it a symbol of Prime Minister Modi’s political will, the precise intelligence of India’s agencies, and the unmatched strike capability of the country’s armed forces.
“Operation Sindoor is a unique symbol of Prime Minister Modi’s firm political will, the accurate information provided by our intelligence agencies, and the infallible strike capability of our three armed forces,” Shah said during the inauguration of the upgraded Multi-Agency Centre (MAC) at North Block in New Delhi.
The newly revamped MAC, which serves as India’s leading intelligence fusion centre under the Intelligence Bureau, has undergone a major overhaul at a cost of over ₹500 crore. The upgraded system now includes advanced AI/ML analytics and GIS services, enabling seamless intelligence-sharing among agencies. It also ensures secure connectivity across the country, even in remote districts, island territories, and insurgency-affected regions.
Shah also commended the excellent coordination between security forces during recent anti-Naxal operations in the Karregattalu Hills (KGH), located along the Chhattisgarh-Telangana border. These operations, he noted, demonstrated the strength of inter-agency collaboration. “India is proud of its three armed forces, the Border Security Force, and all our security agencies,” he added.
Shah emphasised the importance of integrating various siloed databases from central agencies into this new platform to enhance data analytics. “The new MAC network is designed to elevate data analytics, enabling accurate trend analysis, hotspot mapping, and timeline analysis to provide predictive and operational outcomes,” he said.
Describing the upgrade as a “qualitative and quantitative transformation,” Shah explained that the new MAC system would play a critical role in combating terrorism, extremism, organized crime, and cyber threats. He further emphasized that the initiative reflects the government’s ongoing commitment to modernizing India’s national security infrastructure.
Originally established in 2001, the MAC has undergone a significant transformation, ensuring nationwide integration across intelligence, security, law enforcement, and investigative agencies. The new system also guarantees last-mile connectivity down to district-level Superintendents of Police, facilitating efficient communication across all levels of government.
Today’s event marks a key milestone in strengthening India’s internal security architecture, highlighting the Centre’s focus on proactive intelligence collaboration and data-driven threat mitigation.
