Jammu, May 21: Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) chairman Ghulam Nabi Azad on Sunday said that his party has no space for nepotism and favoritism “like in Congress where merit was undermined to accommodate blue-eyed people on top positions”.
‘In DPAP, people can grow only out of hard work and loyalty and everyone will be offered a desired position in the party,” Azad said, adding, “Only merit will prevail.”
According to a statement, Azad met various delegations from block Chilli, Gundoh and Jakyas of district Doda during his second day of the visit. He interacted with various delegations and party workers of the region to take a firsthand review of the ongoing membership drive.
The DPAP chairman said his politics is purely based on development and it was during his tenure as chief minister that he build hospitals, colleges and roads across the length and breadth of the district. He directed the party workers to intensify the membership drive and ensure no one is left behind in the “caravan of peace and development” launched by DPAP.
Azad also that it was unfortunate that the G20 summit was not held in Jammu. He, however, said it is a welcome step to provide an opportunity for Kashmir to host this international event.
Meanwhile, DPAP leader Saddam Nabi Azad, while speaking on the occasion, said he feels “blessed to have joined active politics” and “getting an opportunity to work for the people of my home state, especially my hometown”.
