Jammu, Apr 03: National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Rattan Lal Gupta on Thursday asserted that the Omar Abdullah-led government is swiftly delivering on its election promises, ensuring that commitments made to the people during the Assembly elections are being honoured in record time.
He was speaking at a one-day convention organized by Anoop Gupta, Youth Leader and District President Kathua Urban JKYNC. At the beginning of the meeting, Anoop Gupta apprised the senior party functionaries about the hardships being faced by the youth of District Kathua due to the hollow policies of the earlier government, the party said in a statement.
Gupta emphasised the urgent need for concrete measures to address unemployment and ensure better opportunities for the younger generation.
He highlighted the landmark welfare measures introduced by the NC government within the first five months of its tenure. These include free travel for women in J&K Government buses, 200 free electricity units for AAY households, 10 kg of free ration per person, per month AAY family, waiver of stamp duty for property transfers among blood relatives, and an increase in marriage assistance from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000.
“These initiatives reflect the NC’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of J&K’s citizens, particularly the youth and marginalised sections,” the Provincial President said, adding that the Omar government has initiated the process towards providing one lakh jobs, as promised in the party manifesto, by streamlining recruitment procedures, ensuring transparency and prioritising merit-based selections.
Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Provincial President of the Youth National Conference (YNC), underscored the NC’s unwavering commitment to youth empowerment. He emphasised the party’s continuous efforts in advocating for equal opportunities in political, educational, economic, and social spheres.
Singh called upon the youth to unite and secure strong representation in the upcoming elections, reinforcing the party’s dedication to their progress and leadership in governance.
Vijay Lochan, Chairman of NC’s SC Cell, reaffirmed the party’s dedication to fulfilling its promises, particularly those aimed at marginalised communities. He highlighted several landmark initiatives that have significantly benefited vulnerable sections across the region.
“The NC has always prioritised the welfare and empowerment of the underprivileged, and these measures further solidify the party’s commitment to their upliftment,” he said.
