Jammu, Apr 11: National Conference (NC) Provincial President, Advocate Rattan Lal Gupta on Friday asserted that the Omar Abdullah-led government has ushered in significant positive changes across the Union Territory.
“The Omar Abdullah-led government, in just five months of governance, has taken decisive steps to restore the democratic ethos and address the aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said while addressing a meeting of youth at Sher-e-Kashmir Bhawan Jammu.
According to a party statement issued here, Gupta enumerated several pro-people initiatives implemented by the Omar-led government within a short span of five months of his governance. These, he said, include free travel for women in government-operated buses, enhanced marriage assistance for underprivileged girls (increased from Rs 50,000 to Rs 75,000 for AAY families), provision of 200 units of free electricity per month for AAY households, and an increase in the ration quota from 5 kg to 10 kg per person per month for AAY beneficiaries.
“Additionally, the government has granted exemption from stamp duties for the registration of gift deeds among blood relatives,” he added.
Gupta emphasised the NC government’s focus on safeguarding jobs and rights of general public, ensuring equitable development in far-flung areas, assuring to uplift underprivileged sections of society.
“Such timely and youth-centric decisions by the Omar Abdullah-led government reflect the sincerity and commitment of the NC towards the welfare of the common masses. The NC remains steadfast in its mission to restore the region’s dignity, ensure democratic rights, and work towards a prosperous future for all its residents,” he affirmed.
Speaking on the occasion, Tejinder Pal Singh Aman, Provincial President, YNC, criticised the previous administration for its failure to address the pressing issue of unemployment. “The current Omar Abdullah-led government is actively implementing youth-centric policies aimed at creating sustainable job opportunities, enhancing educational infrastructure, and launching skill development programs to empower the younger generation,” he said.
Sheikh Bashir Ahmed, Provincial Secretary, in his address, emphasised the importance of grassroots engagement. He asked party workers to connect with the youth and address their concerns, thereby strengthening the party’s base and ensuring that the aspirations of the people are effectively represented.
Abdul Ghani Teli Chairman OBC Cell, Vijay Lochan Chairman SC Cell, and Rakesh Singh Raka Vice President Central Zone also addressed the gathering. According to the statement, dozens of youths namely Saqib Showket Ganie, Mohit Gupta, Sahil Quershi, Faisal Quershi, Khair Mohd, Raj Singh Asif Shawaz, joined National Conference.
