Srinagar, Mar 09: Union Home Secretary Govind Mohan, during a high-level security review meeting in Jammu on Sunday, emphasised that there would be no compromise in the fight against terrorism, particularly in Jammu region. The meeting focused on assessing the security situation, counter-terrorism efforts, and emerging threats, with a strong emphasis on intensifying operations to neutralise terrorists in the Jammu region.
Senior officials from the J&K government, central agencies, and the J&K police, including DGP Nalin Prabhat, IG Jammu Zone BhimSen Tuti, and IG Kashmir VK Birdi, were present. The discussions covered several key topics, including the recent civilian killings in Billawar, Kathua, preparations for the upcoming Amarnath Yatra, ongoing counter-terrorism operations, and measures to prevent infiltration.
The Union Home Secretary made it clear that there would be “no compromise” on counter-terrorism operations and called for enhanced measures to ensure civilian safety and the smooth execution of the Amarnath Yatra. “There is no room for terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir. We will intensify our operations to eliminate these threats,” he said. He further stressed that terrorist elements must be neutralised, especially those that should have been dealt with during the winter months. “We are committed to ensuring a secure environment for the people of Jammu and Kashmir, and that means decisive action against terror wherever they are hiding,” he added.
The meeting followed the recovery of three bodies of missing civilians from a water channel in the upper reaches of Bani-Billawar, Kathua. The victims, including a child, had been part of a marriage party that had been missing for over 60 hours.
Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh confirmed the involvement of terrorists in the killings, calling it an attempt to destabilise the region’s peaceful atmosphere. He vowed to bring the perpetrators to justice, stating on X, “The brutal killing of three civilians in the Bani area of Kathua is a tragic and deliberate act aimed at creating fear.”

The security review meeting, held at the Jammu Convention Centre, was organized in two sessions. In addition to the Union Home Secretary, senior officials from the Intelligence Bureau (IB), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Border Security Force (BSF), and the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) attended the meeting. Also present were J&K Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo, state Home Secretary Chandrakar Bharti, and DGP Nalin Prabhat.
In recent weeks, Union Home Minister Amit Shah has conducted three reviews of the security situation in Jammu and Kashmir. Additionally, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha led two back-to-back security reviews last month. The strategies discussed during these meetings will now be put into action to address the growing terrorist threat and maintain peace in the region.
