Srinagar, Jan 15: The district administration Ramban issued an order on Monday to suspend traffic on the Srinagar-Jammu national highway for a total of twelve hours on Tuesday night and Wednesday night.
As per the order sanctioned by the District Administration Ramban, the move is specifically taken to launch girders at MNB-19, a pivotal phase of an ongoing infrastructure development project.
The order mandates a six-hour traffic halting from 0000 hours to 0600 hours on both the nights of January 16, 2024, to January 17, 2024, and January 17, 2024, to January 18, 2024, respectively.
“The decision to suspend traffic was made based on the recommendation of the Project Director, NHAI, PIU Ramban. It says there is a need to ensure the safety and well-being of the general populace, travelers, and drivers during the construction activities,” it said.
The order reads, “Senior Superintendent of Police, Ramban, and Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic, NHWs, Ramban, shall implement the above orders in letter and spirit.”
The construction activities include the launching of girders at MNB-19 and the installation of ventilation/jet fans in Tunnel T5. The authorities have stressed strict adherence to the outlined conditions in the communication from the Project Director NHAI, PIU Ramban.
“Motorists and commuters are advised to plan their travel accordingly, considering the temporary traffic suspension during the specified hours. The cooperation of the public is solicited to ensure the smooth progress of the infrastructure project and to maintain the safety of all stakeholders involved,” it added.
