Jammu, July 15: Tejinder Pal Singh (Aman), Youth National Conference District President Jammu Urban on Monday organised a significant public meeting in the Nanak Nagar here.
The meeting witnessed an enthusiastic turnout of local residents who raised several pressing issues affecting their daily lives, Singh said in a statement issued here.
He said the residents voiced their concerns about the unscheduled power cuts, which occur without any prior notification. “They expressed frustration over the frequent power outages, especially during rainy weather or even minor hailstorms, which seem to affect Nanak Nagar disproportionately compared to neighbouring localities like Trikuta Nagar, where power supply remains uninterrupted,” he said.
Another critical issue raised was the problem of waterlogging and flooding during rains. The residents highlighted the inadequate drainage system, which leads to significant water accumulation and disrupts their routine activities, the statement said.
Addressing the gathering, Tejinder Pal criticised the authorities for their “lack of serious concern” towards these public issues. “Despite raising these concerns numerous times, the authorities have failed to take any substantial action. The people face hardships in the absence of a popular government in Jammu & Kashmir,” he said.
Tejinder said, “The National Conference has always been at the forefront of addressing public grievances and ensuring equitable development. The current state of affairs, marked by neglect and indifference, is unacceptable. It is high time the authorities wake up to the genuine concerns of the people and take immediate corrective measures.”
He added, “The National Conference is committed to resolving these issues and bringing about meaningful change. I urge the people to support the National Conference in the upcoming Assembly polls in Jammu and Kashmir. Together, we can work towards an era of equitable development and a better quality of life for all residents.”
