Jammu, Oct 29: Ajay Sadhotra, former minister and Additional General Secretary of J&K National Conference, and Rattan Lal Gupta, Provincial President of Jammu, on Sunday visited the villages affected by Pakistani firing. They met with the border dwellers who are currently enduring a challenging time due to heavy shelling originating from across the International Border (IB).
During their visit to Bhula Chak in the Sae area of R.S. Pura and Arnia Sectors, the senior NC leaders inspected the homes of victims of the shelling. They visited the severely damaged house of Om Prakash and the residence of Tarsem Lal in Arnia, where Rajni Devi, their daughter-in-law, sustained serious injuries.
Listening to the plights of these families, who came under heavy firing during a ceasefire violation on Thursday night, Sadhotra referred to the border dwellers as frontline warriors. He demanded that the government take immediate measures to safeguard the lives and property of people residing along the borders, as they are the first to face the impact of attacks from enemy countries. Sadhotra urged the government to assess the losses promptly and ensure compensation for the affected families. He also reminded the government of its commitment to provide 5 Marla plots to border residents, offering safer accommodation in emergency situations.
Rattan Lal Gupta expressed concern over the inadequate efficacy of bunkers constructed by the government, which he argued drained public funds without offering sufficient protection.
Notable attendees during the visit included Ankush Abrol, Provincial Joint Secretary, Dr. Vikas Sharma, Secretary Central Zone Jammu, District President Naresh Bittu, District President Raghubir Singh Manhas, Sham Lal, Block President, Bobby Chouhan, Block President, and Jatinder Singh, Block President, along with several party workers from the region.
