Srinagar, Aug 06: National Conference (NC) president Dr Farooq Abdullah and Vice President & Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of lives caused by a severe thunderstorm in Waltangoo Nard-Kund in Devsar. The calamity led to the unfortunate death of a nomadic father-daughter duo and left several others seriously injured.The leaders prayed for eternal peace for the departed souls and extended heartfelt sympathies to the bereaved family.Party General Secretary Ali Muhammad Sagar, senior leader and former Cabinet Minister Sakina Itoo, MP for south Kashmir Mian Altaf Ahmad and State Spokesperson Imran Nabi Dar also expressed condolences. They prayed for the safety of other tribal families and urged the administration to ensure the protection and well-being of nomadic communities and their livestock in the upper regions of Kulgam and Shopian districts.Meanwhile, MLA Devsar Peerzada Faroz Ahmad visited the affected area and met with the grieving family. He expressed solidarity with the victims and assured that immediate relief would be provided. He also urged district officials present on the occasion to expedite relief distribution and ensure ongoing support to all affected families.Meanwhile, NC Member of Parliament (Anantnag-Rajouri), Mian Altaf Ahmad, issued a separate statement here, extending condolences to the bereaved family and praying for peace for the departed soul.The MP urged the administration to reach out to the affected family with relief and suitable compensation.
