Jammu, Apr 16: Union Minister Amit Shah, on Tuesday, said that terrorism in J&K is “breathing its last breaths”, also pointed fingers at the National Conference (NC), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Congress, accusing them responsible for fake encounters in J&K and handing over guns to the Kashmiri youth.
Shah asserted, “PDP, NC, and Congress are responsible for promoting terrorism and handing over guns to the youth of J&K,” while highlighting alleged fake encounters that occurred under their rule.
He credited Prime Minister NarendraModi for the abrogation of Article 370, stating, “Prime Minister Modi scrapped Article 370 after which there is no stone pelting, no hartals, and terrorism here in J&K is also on death bed.”
“With the abrogation of Article 370, the Prime Minister Modi has realised the dream of BJP ideologue, Dr Shayama Prasad Mukherjee, who sacrificed his life for ‘EkVidhan, EkPradhan and EkNishan’.
Taking a dig at NC and PDP, Home Minister Shah asked as to how many fake encounters have taken place during their rule in Jammu and Kashmir, and who had provided guns in the hands of Kashmiri youth.
Assuring Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir within the deadline fixed by the Supreme Court, Home Minister Amit Shah on Tuesday appealed to the youth of Kashmir to vote for any party except Congress, National Conference (NC) and the People’ Democratic Party (PDP) in the LokSabha elections.
The Supreme Court, while upholding the abrogation of Article 370, had fixed September 30 as the deadline to hold the Assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir.
Shah dismissed apprehensions about the BJP’s intentions in Kashmir, stating, “The BJP is not among those who occupy land by force but believes in winning the hearts of the people.” He expressed confidence in the BJP’s prospects in the Valley, pledging development akin to that in Jammu.
Regarding the erstwhile challenges due to Article 370, Shah remarked, “There was a time when we could not even imagine holding such a massive rally as there used to be stone pelting, shutdown calls from Pakistan due to Article 370.” He assured that border villages would witness development similar to Jammu under the Modi government.
He also criticised PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti for her remarks that there will be no one left in Kashmir to hold the Tricolour if Article 370 is abrogated.
Pointing out that while Article 370 is gone already, the Tricolour continues to fly high in the sky. “The Tricolour will continue to fly even if Mehbooba Mufti and Amit Shah remain or not,” he said.
Shah concluded, “Nobody should have any doubt regarding holding of Assembly elections in J&K,” reaffirming the government’s commitment to peace and development in the region.
