National School Games: Dy Director YSS presents meritorious certificates to boxers

Jammu, April 28: Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports, Jitender Mishra Monday presented meritorious certificates to the young boxers who participated in the 68th National School Games and won a bronze medal for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir.

The participating Ahsan ul Haq, Amir Farooq, Umar Bashir and Krishna Raina. Haq was the Bronze medal winner in under-14 years boy’s category, while the other three boxers though performed well but could not make it to the medals. While describing the talented young footballers as the future heroes of the UT, Mishra advised them to continue their rigorous training and bring laurels for themselves and for Jammu and Kashmir as well. “The Department is committed to promoting sports in every nook and corner of the Union Territory. And this year’s medal tally is testament to the same, which is an encouraging sign for the budding athletes of J&K,” Mishra said. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Altaf Hussain, Departmental Vigilance Officer and the officials of the Activities Section.
Youth Services and Sports Department Zone Dangerpora Organises Yoga Competition and Mental Health Awareness Program at High School HarduShiva, Dangerpora, April 28: The Youth Services and Sports Department, Zone Dangerpora, successfully organised a Yoga Competition at Government High School Hardu Shiva. The event was formally inaugurated by Bashir Ahmad Wani, Headmaster of High School Shiva. On the occasion, Yoga Trainer Abrar addressed the participants and highlighted the significance of Yoga in promoting physical fitness, mental well-being and a balanced lifestyle among youth. Students actively took part in various Yoga demonstrations and exercises during the competition.
Following the Yoga session, a Mental Health Awareness Program was conducted at the same venue in collaboration with Doctors Without Borders. The awareness session aimed to educate students and teachers about mental health issues, stress management, and the importance of seeking help when needed. A total of 150 students and teachers participated in the combined events, making it a highly engaging and impactful day. The program concluded with an interactive session where experts responded to queries related to mental health and well-being. The Youth Services and Sports Department Zone Dangerpora extended their gratitude to Doctors Without Borders for their collaboration and to the school administration for their support in making the event a success.
