Shopian, Dec 06: Ambitious ‘My Town My Pride’ phase 2 programme launched by the government concluded on Tuesday with a  grand function held at Municipal Council Shopian.
Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya presided over the function at Shopian and listened to suggestions and demands of the public.
The citizens on the occasion demanded separate mechanical division for Shopian, multi storied car parking, beautification of town, establishment of Women’s College, strengthening of DH and better medical facilities, better power supplies, curbing drug addiction among others.
Speaking on the occasion, DC presented initiatives taken for the development of the town, like introduction of cinema hall for Infotainment, strengthening of health infrastructure, scientific waste disposal, curbing drug abuse, other facilities like slaughter houses etc.
Vaishya also intimated that the government is strengthening ULBs by giving more financial and supervision of departments.
He appealed to the people to provide suggestions for the development of the town and called upon all to give their full cooperation to the administration for making more strides on improving development parameters.
He also sought cooperation from all to fight along with administration on drug addiction and said My Town, My Pride, aims to deliver public services at doorsteps, build developmental initiatives on the feedback, cooperation and participation from people and strengthen strong and vibrant local self-governance.
He initially inspected stalls installed by different departments to aware people about their schemes and programmes.
On the occasion, colourful and mesmerizing cultural programmes were also presented to enthrall the audience.
Meanwhile, registration counters were set up by the departments at the designated venues where people were apprised of government schemes and beneficiaries were also registered on spot.
The two day event witnessed huge public participation and the town remained abuzz with the festivities of the Government’s outreach programme ‘My Town My Pride’ phase 2.
