Srinagar, Aug 10: Carrying forward the pride of Kashmir’s literary and cultural heritage, students of MPML Higher Secondary School, Srinagar Sunday participated with great enthusiasm in the Chinar Book Festival held at SKICC, Srinagar. As per a statement issued here, the event was organised by the Ministry of Education, Government of India in collaboration with the National Council for the Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL) — the premier institution for Urdu language and education in India. The festival provided a rich platform for the students to engage with Urdu literature, books, and cultural activities. After visiting various book stalls, the students attended interactive live sessions on career counselling, art and culture, music and drama and most notably, an Urdu Mushaira that highlighted the depth, beauty, and timeless appeal of the Urdu language. Director School Education Kashmir, Dr. GN Itoo expressed his appreciation, stating: “The participation of our students in such events not only strengthens their linguistic and cultural roots but also broadens their intellectual horizons. Urdu is a language of expression, grace, and heritage — and I am proud to see our youth embracing and celebrating it with such passion.” Chief Education Officer Srinagar, Gh Mohi-Ud-din Bhat, also lauded the initiative, stating that, “It is heartening to witness the active engagement of our students in a festival that blends education with culture. Their interaction with literary and artistic platforms will surely inspire them to pursue excellence in language, literature, and beyond.” The event concluded with the students returning inspired and enriched, carrying with them the essence of literary heritage and cultural pride.
