His leadership style has taken even seasoned political analysts by surprise. What he has in mind cant be predicted in advance to draw political projections. After the neutralisation of Article 370 and 35 A this was his first visit. And it came at a time when India will be participating in the Lok Sabha elections shortly. People of Kashmir have witnessed many political ups and downs. There is no dearth of visits to Kashmir that was made by many leaders of national repute. But Modi has made an impression among the people. They have faith in his governance and policy formulations that include all sections of the society for inclusive nation building. Those who have listened to Modi’s speech in Srinagar on 7th March keenly have internalised that it was devoid of politics but enriched with welfare. Modi was speaking his heart out to reach out Kashmiris with development and economic well being. He even suggested ways to earn more. And even gave the glimpse of the strategies that can transform the economic condition of the valley. It can be said that he wants empowerment of Kashmiris and their self dependence. He clearly said that Jammu and Kashmir is India’s head and the head has to be held high. There was no pessimism in his speech but confidence in Kashmiris to carve a niche for themselves in the rising India. Besides announcing various tourism and agricultural initiatives that the Rising Kashmir has already analysed in the previous editorial. There was a departure from the traditional rhetoric of the politicians. He said that Viksit Jammu and Kashmir is apriority for the Viksit Bharat initiate to empower the Indians. He noted that Kashmir has been the favourite destination of the filmmakers and carved a niche in yester years. As so movie was considered complete till it had the scenes shot in the picturesque Kashmir valley. He said that we have to look beyond this and aspire for more. He said that people must be encouraged to come to India and celebrate their wedding here. And he termed it as “wed in India”. For that matter Kashmir must be the most sought after destination for such weddings. It will generate more wealth and avenues. Besides making the weddings memorable. He underlined that in the previous year Jammu and Kashmir has witnessed a surge in tourism. Statistics showing the record number of tourists visiting the world famous pilgrimage centres of Shree Mata Vaishno Devi and Shree Amarnath Ji in Katra, Jammu and Kashmir respectively. He said that tourism demands that the tourists spend 5 -10 % percent of their money in purchasing the local goods in the destination area. As the tourist purchase has the multiplier effect. He was forthright in his address and assured the people of Kashmir that “Modi’s guarantee means the guarantee of guarantee”. This confidence and conviction to deliver public welfare schemes and the good governance resonated well with the people. He was satisfied with the achievements listed by the Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha in Jammu and Kashmir in all areas of public welfare. Modi’s rally in Kashmir has electrified the atmosphere. There is a need to transform this energy into deliverables. So that Kashmir emerges on the national horizon as the frontline Union Territory contributing in the national resurgence. Public participation in the Prime Minister’s rally signifies the mood of Kashmir to embrace the national resurgence for progression and peace.
