MLA Zainapora calls for parental guidance to combat drug abuse

Shopian, Apr 05: The Department of Ayush Shopian on Saturday organised an awareness camp on drug addiction with the theme, ‘Be High on Dreams, Not on Drugs, Choose Life, Not Drugs’ at Government High School, Chitragam.
The camp was inaugurated by Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Zainapora, Showkat Hussain Ganie and was attended by SDM, Zainapora, Bilal Ahmad, CMO, Dr Arshad, DIO, Showkat Ganie, BMO Zainapora and other officials of Ayush and health.
MLA Zainapora emphasised the role of parents, terming it essential to tackle the menace along with the engagement of youth in positive and productive activities. He sought cooperation of all to fight the war against the drug addiction, and appealed to teachers and parents to keep vigil on their students and wards.
On the occasion, speakers of Ayush, health, education and student speakers highlighted the role of stakeholders especially parents, educational institutions along with the government departments in tackling the menace of drug abuse.
District Nodal Officer Ayush, Dr Javid vied for promoting Ayush and its health and wellness benefits through physical exercises, yogic practice and sports activities.
SDM Zainapora called for engaging youth towards career development early in their ages by inspiring and counselling them and channelising and honing their latent and vast energies for societal good.
