Srinagar, Nov 06: Vikram Randhawa, MLA for Bahu constituency, has outlined a comprehensive plan focusing on religious tourism, youth employment, and safety. In an interview with Rising Kashmir, Randhawa emphasized his commitment to developing the Mata Temple in Jammu into a major religious tourism destination.
“People from across the country visit Mata Vaishno Devi, yet only a few come to Bahu Temple. I aim to develop world-class infrastructure so that no tourist leaves Jammu without visiting this sacred site,” he said.
In the recent elections, Randhawa, formerly an MLC and BJP’s State Secretary in Jammu and Kashmir, defeated Taranjit Singh Tony (INC) by a margin of 11,251 votes. He attributed his victory to the unity of the Bahu constituency, with support from all communities. “This was a win for every citizen of Bahu, and I’ll ensure all-round development for the area,” he stated.
Randhawa shared his “Reform, Perform, and Transform” vision to address Bahu’s issues, including making it a drug-free zone. He plans to work closely with the administration to combat illegal drug activity in the area, which he described as a growing concern.
To improve living standards, Randhawa is pushing for solar panel installation for households under a central government scheme that offers a 65% subsidy. “This initiative will reduce electricity costs and alleviate power shortages during Jammu’s summers,” he said.
Expressing concern over illegal Rohingya settlements in Jammu, particularly in Bahu, Randhawa described the issue as a severe threat to community safety. “If necessary, I will appeal to the government to relocate or deport these illegal settlers, who are implicated in various crimes, including drug trafficking,” he said, vowing not to rest until action is taken.
Addressing youth employment, Randhawa pledged to support job security, skill training, and entrepreneurship programs to reduce unemployment. “The BJP-led government will continue its mission of ‘Reform, Perform, and Transform’ for social justice, aiming for an empowered and developed India by 2047,” he added.
