Srinagar, Nov 11:DODA: Malik Meharaj, the newly elected MLA from Doda and the sole Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) representative in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly, has pledged to address the pressing needs of his constituency.
Speaking exclusively with Rising Kashmir, Meharaj outlined his top priorities, which include improving healthcare, upgrading educational facilities, enhancing connectivity, and combating what he referred to as a “Mafia” operating in the region.
Meharaj emphasized his commitment to serving the people of Doda, driven by the trust they have placed in him. “The people have put their trust in me, and I will make every possible effort to deliver essential services to the Doda constituency,” he said. Key areas of focus for the MLA include resolving health crises, expediting educational upgrades, and improving road networks to ease transportation difficulties. “There are current health crises, a delay in educational facility upgrades, and pending road developments that I am committed to addressing,” he added.
He expressed concern over the alleged existence of a Mafia, which he claims has hindered development and access to basic amenities. “Over the past 10 years, this Mafia has systematically stifled growth and denied residents basic facilities,” Meharaj alleged. He accused the previous BJP administration of enabling this system and vowed to dismantle it. “I am determined to dismantle this system and hold those responsible accountable,” he stated.
Highlighting issues of governance, Meharaj expressed frustration with certain officials he described as unresponsive. He promised to push for accountability, insisting that public servants must address the community’s needs. “Officials who ignore the people’s concerns will be held accountable,” he asserted.
The AAP MLA’s promises have sparked hope among voters who view him as a change agent in Jammu and Kashmir’s political scene. Emphasizing his unique position, Meharaj said, “Being the first and only AAP MLA in J&K, I am committed to upholding the party’s values of transparency and accountability. If I cannot address the people’s genuine issues, I should be held accountable. People have every right to question me.”
Meharaj also underscored the years of neglect his constituency has endured. “My constituents have been deprived of basic amenities for years, and I am here to change that,” he declared. He urged residents to have faith in his mission to uplift Doda and assured them he would work tirelessly to overcome the region’s challenges.
