Srinagar, June 5: A minor fire incident occurred at the Govt. Chest Disease Hospital in Dalgate, Srinagar, at approximately 9:55 AM on Wednesday. The fire, caused by a short circuit, was detected when smoke was seen emanating from the roof of a hospital building located away from the main facility.
The hospital’s administrative staff, security personnel, and other hospital staff, along with the Mechanical & Hospital Division team, promptly acted to extinguish the fire using available resources, including ABC, CO2, and foam type fire extinguishers. Their swift response ensured that the fire was controlled immediately, preventing any mishap or significant damage.
The Fire and Emergency Services Department was alerted and arrived at the scene to inspect and confirm that the fire had been completely extinguished.
In response to the incident, the hospital administration has communicated with the Electricity Division Srinagar to assess and mitigate any further fire risks. Additionally, a request has been made for an urgent fire audit by the Fire and Emergency Department to ensure the safety of the hospital’s property and staff.
