Poonch, Dec 25: Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology & Environment and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana on Wednesday conducted an extensive tour of Mendhar and presided over a public darbar held to address the grievances and developmental issues of the local population.
On the occasion, scores of delegations comprising employees and citizens from different areas and departments met the minister to apprise him of their grievances and demands. The delegations raised collective and individual issues and sought their early redressal.
The issues raised by the delegations pertained to welfare schemes, public utilities, better drinking water facilities, firewood, health, roads, tribal issues and other developmental issues.
After listening to grievances brought to his notice by various delegations and individuals, the minister assured them that all their genuine issues would be examined for prompt redressal. He issued on-the-spot directions to the concerned officers to take cognisance of the issues pertaining to their departments.
Emphasising the need for transparency and accountability in the governance process, Rana said that these are the two cornerstones that connect the people closer to the government and make the decision-making more effective and inclusive. He directed the officers of the district administration to switch over to a proactive mode to address people’s developmental issues. He further asked them to conduct field visits to ensure grievances are addressed effectively.
During the darbar, the Minister also sought on-the-spot response from the concerned officers present during the public darbar. Present in the public darbar included Executive Engineer, STD Kalakote, Executive Engineer, Jal Shakti, Poonch Superintending Engineer, Jal Shakti Poonch, ACP Poonch, SDM Mendhar AEE Jal Shakti, Poonch and other officers from the district.
