Srinagar, Dec 21: Manzoor Bhat, a prominent leader from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), on Thursday applauded the collaborative efforts of the SMC in successfully executing the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ (VBSY) across 74 wards of Srinagar. He commended the dedication of SMC Commissioner Athar Aamir Khan (IAS), Joint Commissioner ADM Syed Abul Qasim, Nodal Officer (VKY) Mudasir Hussain Bandey and officers involved in the event.
In a significant initiative to enhance public awareness and accessibility to government schemes, the Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) organized the ‘Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra’ (VBSY) event in Batamaloo ward today. The Yatra, part of the Hamara Sankalp Viksit Bharat campaign, aims to inform and empower citizens about the central government’s flagship schemes and programs.
Ankita Chakravarty (IAS), Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Home Affairs, graced the occasion as the Chief Guest, highlighting the importance of citizen engagement in the welfare initiatives.
Expressing gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Bhat highlighted the critical role of the Yatra in creating awareness about various government welfare schemes. He cited examples such as the Golden Card, PM Suraksha Bema Yojna, Atal Pension Yojna, and PM Vishwakarma Yojna, noting that despite their significance for social security, many residents remain unaware.
The event featured discussions on key welfare initiatives, including PM Ujjwala Yojana, PM Awas Yojana, PM Svanidhi, Jal Jeevan Mission, and Pradan Mantri Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana. These discussions aimed to elucidate the benefits of these schemes for the local populace.
To further engage and assist attendees, the event offered free health check-ups, Aadhar card registration, and the generation/registration of Ayushman cards. Various government departments set up stalls to showcase their initiatives, providing citizens with valuable information.
The event received positive feedback from the community, underscoring the success of the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra in achieving its objectives of raising awareness and facilitating access to crucial government welfare schemes.
