In a heroic act of bravery, the people of Lathermargi Rikenwas in Kishtiwar’s Warwan valley on Monday rescued six persons and 600 cattles that were stranded due to heavy snowfall in the upper reaches of valley.
A local resident Manzoor Ah told Rising Kashmir that villagers immediately mobilized and formed a team to rescue the persons and cattles who were stuck in the higher regions of Warwan valley .
“Despite heavy snowfall and network connectivity issues in the area we put our lives at risk to rescue the people and their livestock,” Manzoor Said
He said that two local Govt school teachers Zahoor Ah and Nawaz Ah along with other volunteers of the area carried out the rescue operation to help Bakerwal community who were stranded in the upper reaches of area.
A local Govt Teacher Zahoor Ah said that the team worked tirelessly, braving harsh weather conditions, and used all available resources to ensure the safety of the cattles.
“Have provided shelter to all stranded persons in my residential house,” he said
“The rescue mission was a daunting task, as the cattle were scattered over a large area, and the heavy snow made it difficult to navigate,” he said
Zahoor said that all cattles were safely brought back and placed them in different cowsheds of the village.
He said that the villagers’ timely action has not only saved the lives of the cattle but has also won them appreciation and admiration from across the region.
However an official Bashir Ahmad from police station Warwan told Rising Kashmir that all person and cattles were rescued by joint efforts of Locals and police .
He said that all persons and cattles are safe .
He said that resilience and determination of the people of Warwan who, despite the challenging circumstances, came together to save the lives of cattles and persons.
“Their selfless act of kindness is an inspiration to all of us and reinforces the importance of community spirit in times of crisis,” he said.
