Pulwama, Aug 03: A local cricket event from Pulwama area of South Kashmir has attracted many players from different parts of the country including southern state of Karnataka and northern state of Uttar Pradesh (UP).
The organisers of this interdistrict cricket event, Kong Posh Premier League, informed Rising Kashmir that participation of players from different states has added charm to the series.
Shahid Lala, organiser of the tournament, told that around 24 teams from all districts of Kashmir division are taking part in this series.
“We organised this tournament with the expectation that all talented teams from Kashmir will take part in it,” Shahid said, adding that they were thrilled to see players from others states of the country also becoming part of the series.
He said that one team, Western Motors Pulwama, has seven players from Bengaluru city of Karnataka and Bright Futures Kulgam has two players from UP and one from Uttarakhand (UK).
“There is a lot of passion and excitement among the players for cricket,” he said, adding that they provide them all support from their side.
He added that teams from Jodhpur city of Rajasthan also expressed willingness to participate in the tournament but that didn’t mature due to some reasons.
“This is for the first time any cricket event from Pulwama Tehsil has attracted players from other states,” Shahid said.
Shubham, a budding cricketer from Bengalaru, who is participating in the series said that he is enjoying playing in Pulwama.
“I am thankful to organisers of this tournament for providing an opportunity to young players to showcase their talent,” he said, adding that they were impressed by support from local cricketers, crowd and the organisers.
He said that such tournaments help in grooming young talent.
“The local cricketers here show a lot a promise and they need good coaches to polish their talent,” he said, adding that there is also need to improve basic infrastructure.
